It’s a pretty quiet time at the moment in the world of “American Idol,” that is unless you like to write about the season 11 stars performing the same music every night as a part of the tour. In an effort to mix things up, we have some stories for you that have to do with some other gigs that some of your favorite former contestants have been a part of in the past few days.
David Cook’s anthem – Before anything else, here is yet another wonderful rendition of the National Anthem courtesy of a former show contestant. This time, it was David Cook at the MLB Home Run Derby in his hometown Kansas City Monday night. Did anyone else notice a little bit of a classical element to David’s voice during this performance here?
Once again, this just shows that there are very few winners of this show who are unable to rock out the Anthem. While many of them sing it differently (with Kelly Clarkson in particular singing every note like it is the last hse will ever sing), they all do a pretty spectacular job.
Phillip Phillips talks about his own performance – As a part of the actual All-Star Game Tuesday, the reigning champ is going to perform his coronation single “Home” — and in a post on Twitter, he made it clear just how honored and psyched he is to be performing in a venue like this game:
“This is pretty awesome! Never thought i would be performing at places like this ha”
This is the end of an especially rigorous stretch for Phillip — he left the season 11 tour before it started for a 4th of July performance in Washington, and this is the second time in a week he has had to fly all around the country. He will be rejoining them soon, but considering the guy’s recent surgery we figure he has to be somewhere close to exhausted at the moment.
Lee DeWyze calls “Hell’s Kitchen” experience “great” – There’s not too much to talk about here if you have already read our review of Monday night’s “Hell’s Kitchen,” but you will be pleased to know that one of the special guests on the night in Lee DeWyze really did enjoy his time on the show. As a matter of fact, he said so on his own Twitter just after the episode aired on the West Coast.
