In case you missed some of our reports from earlier in the week, the cast for “Jersey Shore” has already wrapped up filming in their famous Seaside Heights house. With that in mind, what are they doing back? Let’s just say that this is about comedy more so than filming some drama or drunken fights.
According to some new reports via the Jersey Shore Examiner, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Ronnie Magro, and a number of the show’s other cast members were back at the famous Shore House on Monday in order to film a sketch for MTV’s Power of 12 election campaign that will air on Funny or Die. We don’t expect the cast to show much in terms of their own political leanings, but the idea here is to ensure that young people around the country actually get out and cast a vote this November. Young voter enthusiasm has thus far been nowhere near where it was during the 2008 election thus far, and these sort of sketches are going to do their part to change that. Will they have an impact? Possibly, but at the end of the day it is probably still up to the candidates to actually inspire people enough to go out and hit the voting booth.
Based on what we are hearing, the video shoot was thankfully not too awkward just a few days after the cast spent the entire summer together. There were not as many fights within the cast as in seasons past this year, and there is also no giant rift between Snooki and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino that threatened to overtake anything. We’re actually wondering if he is finally letting whatever he thinks happened with Snooki a few months before filming season 4 go yet.
You will actually be able to see the entire cast (minus apparently Mike) on your TV screen again Thursday night, and season 6 should be airing on MTV in the fall. Do you think that the gang filming something like this could actually help improve voter turnout? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and check out some of our other “Jersey Shore” stories.
