‘The X Factor’ USA: Is Khloe Kardashian a hosting candidate?

It’s been interesting to note that auditions have been happening for quite some time when it comes to “The X Factor” — and yet Simon Cowell has yet to officially even name someone as host. The first few rounds of the competition are apparently going to work without someone greeting the contestants backstage, even though we have a feeling that the post-production may plug in some narration after the fact. However, how are we going to live without the awkward interviews, or the host standing in the crowd of screaming fans?

So who really could be stepping into the shoes once occupied by Steve Jones? It’s no secret that Cowell wants two people in the role rather than one, and the top candidates vary depending on where you look.

Per Entertainment Weekly – Stacy Keibler, Mario Lopez, Rosci Diaz

Per E! News – Kelly Osbourne, Khloe Kardashian, Erin Andrews, Terrence J, and Mike Catherwood

First things first, it should be noted that both Osbourne and Khloe are current employees of E!, and Catherwood used to be a part of “The Daily 10” at times prior to its cancellation. Is this a way to get some extra press for their stars? All we know is that Cowell has narrowed his field down to five choices, and in all likelihood it is going to be one man and one woman. Not everyone being reported is on his short list.

The final decision for Simon may come down to whether or not he wants a structured show, or if he wants things to be an insane asylum. A show hosted by either Khloe or Kelly would have a certain amount of unpredictability to it, whereas something with Rosci and Mario would be more polished, especially since they have done so much hosting and interviewing in the past. Keibler and Andrews are in many ways the wild cards — neither have any music experience, and Andrews is more of a reporter than she is a host. Would she really be that comfortable in a non-football environment?

Based on some of these candidates, do you have a favorite? Be sure to vote in our poll below, and we’ll have more on the “X Factor” host search when it is announced. (For now, just check out some photos from the newest round of auditions in Greensboro.)
