Great news, Law & Order: SVU fans — season 19 is officially a go! In a new post on Twitter, Mariska Hargitay confirmed the glorious news.

There are many things to be excited about when it comes to the new season coming on the air, but one of the biggest ones may just be Hargitay’s mindset towards coming back. Just take a look at some of her hashtags in her post below — #NeverGetsOld, #FeelsFresherThanEver, and #NewChaper. These certainly don’t feel like things that someone would say if they were feeling tired and disillusioned about what they are doing. This feels like a supreme vote of confidence for how much she loves playing the Olivia Benson role. Hopefully, that’s a great sign that the show is not going anywhere anytime soon.

While there are changes for season 19, most of them are behind the scenes with there being a new showrunner and some other new people working in production. The cast is the same, and we hope that we can see some familiar faces such as Peter Gallagher and Elizabeth Marvel in the guest cast here and there. Of course, we’re confident that there will be many memorable guest stars coming on board for the first time, given that casting is always one of the things that SVU has excelled at over the years. They are very good at finding people to take on meaty, difficult material.

In the end, this is a show that is mostly about the cases and how the Special Victims Unit solves them. While some of them may be harrowing, there is a certain comfort as a viewer in knowing what you’re going to get on this show every week. Benson will use everything at her disposal to get justice for those deserving of it, and along the way, hopefully we learn more about her own life, whether it be Noah or if there is any new relationship going on after the end of things with Tucker.

What else do we want?

It’d be great if there were some more original Law & Order cameos, and we do also feel like the time is right to pair the show up with Chicago PD once more. There’s just something so interesting about the relationship between Benson and Hank Voight given that she is one of the few people who can really challenge him in the way that she does. Plus, with Chicago Justice gone there has to be a new way to offer up some epic crossovers — especially with Chicago Med not airing until midseason.

As we’ve said many times in the past, though, beyond the cases the biggest thing we want is more great material for the supporting cast so they have a wide array of different ways to shine.
