Not necessarily contrived. I can think of a story line or two that would bring the issues back, even if Kensi didn't do anything wrong.

Ferris had ulterior motives, agreed. As such, it would not be beyond reason that he would have tried to collect damning evidence, such as pictures or video. Even if Kensi rejected all of his efforts, pictures could be made to look as if she didn't. There are still two of the CIA operatives that were involved still free. What better way to drive a wedge in the overall NCIS team than to raise questions about one of their own.

That being said, my preference would be for the show to allow these two characters and their relationship to mature and grow stronger. The writers have done such a wonderful job building this relationship, I would hate to see them get stupid now. However, I don't have the faith that the show runners won't go for the cheap drama if they thought it would give them ratings.

If you have insight into how the writers are planning the show, I wish you would share it with us. Myself, I only have what has been shown to go on.

The writers on this series have done a great job of picking up dangling story lines in later episodes. They have held story lines even across multiple seasons until things are closed. There are far to many dangling issues around Sullivan/Ferris in Season 8 for this to be the end of it. How the writers will handle it is purely speculation right now. However, I am sure it will come back again.

Too many of those scenes were shown for a reason, and that reason is still unknown. That being said, I still think Kensi has a few things to answer for.

The writers of this show have done an incredible job of developing a believable, romantic and deeply emotional relationship between Deeks and Kensi over the past 8 years. I tend to believe this level of writing is one of the reasons the show has remained popular so long. My fear is they will follow other series with cheap tricks to keep the drama level high. I hope not, because to do so would just cheapen the characters and story that they have worked so hard to develop. It is time to solidify this relationship, and show that happily ever after is obtainable.

That being said, there are a few unresolved issues from Season 8, and those revolve around Sullivan/Ferris. In episode 9 (Sirens) did Kensi go for a ride with Sullivan? He asked her, and they never showed us her answer. What did Deeks think when he saw all those empty beer bottles and Kensi wasn't home. He knew that neither mom would leave that mess. In episode 14 (Payback), what did Kensi mean when she said she choose Deeks over Sullivan? When was such a decision made? How did she make him feel like losing a leg didn't matter? That whole conversation sounded way too intimate.

Did Kensi cross the line with Sullivan, or come close to crossing the line? I think there are things here that will come back.

I agree, no way Deeks would cheat on Kensi. He has proven his love, faithfulness and support multiple times through out the series. However, there are still lingering questions about Kensi and Sullivan from S8. A lot of unanswered questions that led up to the kidnapping that may come back to haunt Kensi.

I figure the bump would be Deeks/Whiting/Bates arc that was teased S8. I really hope it happens. It could be a great story and that it leads to Deeks, M. We've been promised it for several seasons. I love Pamela Reed as his mom but was very disappointed how both moms (Julia and Roberta) were treated as cartoon characters in "Sirens" (terrible episode overall).
I agree, engagement is solid. But with Sam losing his wife I can see Densi keeping their news on the downlow.
And now for my obligatory: PLEASE NO MORE ANNA.
Looking forward to season 9. Wedding would be nice!
