There’s no doubting that there is plenty going on right now when it comes to Emily Maynard and “The Bachelorette,” but let’s stop for a minute and look at some of the other stories currently going on the world of the show — including a man who was asked to be “The Bachelor” in the past and a woman still hoping to star on the show in the future.
First … Cheryl Burke – We’ve already written about the “Dancing with the Stars” pro’s continued attempts to become “The Bachelorette” next spring, but we now have yet another explanation as to why exactly she wants the gig so badly.
Speaking in a new interview with the Times Free Press, Burke (whose schedule would feasibly work out well with the time of the year that “The Bachelorette” shoots) claims that her busy schedule is just one of the reasons why she needs a show like this to help her find the perfect someone:
“I think it would be a great opportunity for me to meet people because I’ve been so busy and married to my work lately. It’s really a struggle for me to go out and meet guys, and I’m kind of the shy type. I’m not aggressive. I’m not the person to chase people … Having an opportunity to have guys in front of me and being able to talk to them when they are already there would be easier for me than going out and finding somebody.”
Ultimately, producers are probably not even looking at “Bachelorette” candidates yet, but if she is still single by the time the show rolls around, we have a feeling that Burke could be an interesting choice. She has a built-in audience, is supremely likable, and has enough of a story that we would still get an opportunity to find out new things about her through the experience.
Steven Lopez – Just a few short days ago, the Olympic Tae Kwon Do specialist was a contestant on “The Choice,” but it has now been dug up that he was actually asked to be a part of the “Bachelor” franchise years ago.
Here’s what Lopez had to say back in 2004 in a chat with the Houston Chronicle:
“I haven’t really given it a second thought just because I’m training for the Olympics … and I think that is just a tad bit more important than anything else at this moment.”
Lopez may not have found that perfect person while he was training, but considering his Olympic success we have a feeling he is still happy with the decision that he made.
