Before we wrapped up our “American Idol” coverage for Saturday, we had to share a pair of notes regarding Jessica Sanchez that range from ridiculously out of left field to ridiculously entertaining.
A movie star? – Let’s star with the story that’s pretty far out there — at least by our estimations.
According to Broadway.com, Sanchez is in talks to star in a new feature film from Lee Daniels entitled “Miss Saigon,” where she would play a character named Kim. While we are not trying to say that there is no way that this is going to happen, it still seems unlikely that someone with little to no acting experience is going to get a featured part in a film. Granted, Sanchez is extremely talent, and is in talks for a role on “Glee” — but Ryan Murphy’s show does have a reputation of casting singers such as Charice. (Plus, there’s no confirmation that this is actually happening just yet.) The good news is that “Miss Saigon” is a project that would allow her to utilize her singing voice throughout.
Our real question is this — how is she supposed to do all of this and record a debut album at the same time?
A performance with Heejun and Deandre – Jessica is in Chicago Saturday for the second stop on the season 11 tour, but without even talking about that concert, we finally have video of one of the greatest performances of the show opener in Detroit.
The performance below was actually a featured number of Heejun Han’s, but the cover of “Party Rock Anthem” does give both Jessica and Deandre Brackensick effectively as both singers and dancers. If you’ve ever wanted to see aspiring pop singers do the shuffle dance, the video below is for you. We really wish that the tour gave the “American Idol” stars a chance to do more performances like this. Is it perfect vocally? No, but this was the highlight of the entire opener from the standpoint of people just having fun.
