‘American Idol’ notes: Haley Reinhart, Lee DeWyze, Phillip Phillips

For our first non-tour-related “American Idol” notes of this fine Friday, we have both a televised performance and a meaningful video to share — and to top it off, we have an important airplay milestone courtesy of the reigning champion.

Haley performs on “The View” – It’s been a while since we have seen Haley Reinhart receive some great promotion for her album “Listen Up,” but she got it and then some courtesy of a performance of “Free” on “The View” this morning.

We don’t like to speak in superlatives too much on this page, but we do have to say that this may be the greatest performance of this song that Haley has done live yet. It’s a slowed-down, emotional acoustic rendition, and it gives her voice the opportunity to float and resonate through the small “View” studio. We hope this somehow gives the song another chance to shine on the radio, even with the Hot AC format being as competitive as it is at the moment.

A message from Lee DeWyze – Do you want an opportunity to score a download of Lee DeWyze’s new song “Fight” while at the same time giving back to a great cause? Thanks to the season 9 winner and The Heart Foundation, you are now getting that chance.

Check out the video below to hear a sample of the song (which has a nice folksy feel to it), along with what you can do to donate $5 to the foundation via your phone.

Phillip Phillips enters another chart – We’ve already told you about Phillip Phillips working his way up the aforementioned Hot AC chart with “Home” (after all, he is in the top 30), but now he is also making some major headway in the Top 40 format with the coronation song, as well. The song recently passed the #50 mark on this pop chart for the first time, and if it keeps up its present momentum it could be a nice crossover hit — which is something that an “Idol” winner has not had with their final song from the show really since David Cook with “The Time of My Life.”

As always, be sure to check back for some more “American Idol” notes, and you can check out a preview of the tour featuring Phillip and the rest of the season 11 top ten over at this link.
