As we said in our “Big Brother 14” cast reveal story earlier in the day, there is yet another big twist for this upcoming season — and much to our own chagrin, it involves some past houseguests returning to the game. However, it does not look like they are going to be in direct competition with the rest of the newbies in the game.
Speaking to TV Guide about thsi said twist, executive producer Allison Grodner does not go into any sort of major details — however, she does effectively give us some sort of idea that this could be the “mentor twist” that we have heard so much about:
“Four epic players — including fan favorites and winners — are coming in with their own agenda … It’s a game within a game, if you will … [the new faces are a] vibrant, different and interesting group. It’s a mix unlike any other.”
It has already been confirmed by producers that no one from last season — including the much-discussed Rachel Reilly — will be returning to the game. The fact that the word “winner” is mentioned does seem to give some of merit to the rumors of Dan Gheesling from season 10 and Mike “Boogie” from “All-Stars” being on. Janelle Pierzina has been a long-rumored name, but the fact that she is hosting an episode of the SuperPass show “Rumor Control” on Friday makes us a bit hesitant to say that she is a lock. Some other candidates to us could include Brittany from season 12 or Maggie from season 6 if you want another winner. (However, we don’t think either of them are actually going to be on.)
The mentor twist would basically mean that each returning houseguest would help guide three newbies through the game, and the last one standing would win a cash prize of their own. We also assume that if your entire team was gone from the house, you would be, as well.
