‘The Vampire Diaries’: See Ian Somerhalder in Comic-Con cover

Comic-Con is officially coming up in just one week, so it only makes sense for studios to start handing out the latest in materials to promote the major convention in San Diego. Our newest bit of evidence of this comes courtesy of “The Vampire Diaries” — and specifically, two new covers for TV Guide’s Comic-Con special.

The cover images feature star Nina Dobrev as Elena along with two of the guys that she has been romantically intertwined to on this series ever since the very beginning — Ian Somerhalder’s Damon and Paul Wesley’s Stefan. Considering that Elena technically “chose” Stefan during the season 3 finale for the show, you would think that they would abandon the love triangle angle here in some shape or form. However, it’s still going strong — which may be a slight allusion to the fact that “Delena” as a romantic possibility is not completely dead. After all, with Elena transforming into a vampire she is going to know now that she actually met Damon before Stefan — and while we don’t know how that would necessarily change things, stranger events have happened before in Mystic Falls.

Season 4 of “the Vampire Diaries” will be launching on Thursday, October 11 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, and it will be followed up by the series premiere of the new series “Beauty and the Beast.” The actual panel discussion for the show is going to happen on Saturday, July 14 in Ballroom 20, and will feature all three of the actors plus some surprises alongside executive producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec — who will hopefully have some more goodies to share about season 4.
