“The Walking Dead” is heading to prison for season 3, but even in spite of these dangerous and often tragic circumstances, there has been one pair of characters who have managed to find love — Maggie and Glenn. Now, the question is whether or not it can last.
The good news for fans of this couple is that speaking to TV Guide, showrunner Glen Mazzara suggested as though we have not seen anywhere close to the end for these two characters — though he also promised that we will see more of the Glenn moving forward that first popped up on our TV screens during season 1:
“Glenn and Maggie’s relationship is incredibly important to the world of The Walking Dead … It is a ray of hope. Love was new territory for Glenn last season and it threw him for a loop. We’re excited to see him back to the resourceful, wily, go-getter of the first season.”
Ultimately, what we are really hoping that we do see here is some stability — we already have enough conflict courtesy of Rick and Lori and plugging some into this relationship would transform this show into something that is even more depressing than it already is. Their love story managed to stay somewhat sweet despite all of the sadness last year, and it would be interesting to see how they progress now that all of the cards are on the table and “I love you” has been said. The good news is that Lauren Cohan has been promoted to a series regular, so if nothing else she is going to be around for a while.
