While we love the mad circus known as Fox’s “Take Me Out,” we may have been one of the only people who did — after all, the network has opted to send George Lopez and his collection of single women to the night where TV shows go to die.
Following Thursday night’s new episode (which will air alongside the last episode of “The Choice”), the show will be shifted to Saturday night as a part of a lineup that also includes “Cops.” It’s a way for Fox to pretty much cancel the show without officially saying that it is canceled — though this move does pretty much guarantee that “Take Me Out” will not be coming back for more episodes next year.
So what was the show’s biggest flaw? First things first, absolutely no one knew this show was even on thanks to the lack of promotion compared to “The Choice.” As much as we like George Lopez, he also wasn’t the right host for this sort of program — the show needs someone who is younger, can be identified along with the show, and who isn’t forced to use so many cheesy lines that he repeats over and over again during the broadcast.
There were also too many ladies on this show that, outside of the memorable and at times wacky Mindy, we don’t really remember who any of them are. (We only remember “Suki” because her names reminds us of “True Blood.”) This show may have actually been better suited to have a panel of ten women who we got to know a little bit better over the course of the season, and made an effort to make the guys a little less ridiculous in an effort to get some more of them meaningful dates.
Are you going to miss “Take Me Out,” or did you really even have any clue that this show was on the air?
