Thanks in part to doing a great deal of charity work in Eastern Europe, Angelina Jolie now has something she can be quite proud of for the rest of her life — the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo award.
Jolie (along with longtime beau Brad Pitt) attended the Sarajevo Film Festival in Bosnia this weekend, and had this to say upon being honored for some of her work:
“I’m so happy to be in this remarkable city in this beautiful country and I’ve spent the last year lucky enough to experience not just the warmth and the hospitality of the local people but also your extraordinary talent [filming movie ‘The Land of Blood and Honey’].
“In my career, I have never worked with such disciplined and talented artists as I was able to this last year.”
Jolie’s new movie has certainly generated some controversy, as it focuses on a couple (a Muslim woman and a Serb) who develop a relationship on the break of the Bosnian war in the early 1990s. However, even the detractors of the film cannot take away what she has done to help some of the people of the country.
