Thanks in part to a new story published by the New York Post, rumors are starting to swirl all over the internet that NBC wants Donald Trump to seriously consider their upcoming spring season of “The Celebrity Apprentice” an “All-Stars” season, where some of the biggest names from years past come back in an attempt to win some more money for charity. It’s a chance to see some familiar faces again, and also witness more crazy moments from people who you know for sure are entertaining.
While were are typically torn when it comes to these sort of concepts, we have a pretty strong opinion when it comes to this one — it’s a terrible idea. Most of the people that we would want to see again — such as Piers Morgan, Gene Simmons, and Lisa Lampanelli — may either not want to do the show again or may be too busy to. You’d be likely stuck with people like Omorosa and Gary Busey, who are not exactly A-list names that we want to see around again. While many other celebrity-themed reality shows see their stars all fall back into obscurity after the season is over, Trump actually has a pretty high success rate in terms of his contestants going on to do great things afterwards. Bret Michaels is the only past winner who either does not have a show on right now or one in development, but even he had a show for a brief span of time afterwards on VH1. Meanwhile, some other standouts such as Curtis Stone, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne, NeNe Leakes, and even the controversial Jesse James have gone on to have new ventures following their time in the boardroom.
The real thing that “The Celebrity Apprentice” needs to focus on moving forward is simply securing some fantastic new celebrities, and they should have a pretty good pool to choose from — after it was revealed that Arsenio Hall was set to launch a new talk show thanks to his appearance on the show, Trump and NBC reportedly received more than a hundred letters from managers trying to get their clients a spot. We made a pretty comprehensive list of our dream cast recently, and it could be a good starting point.
