‘Big Brother 14’ spoilers: Impressions from house tour, Julie Chen

At the incredibly terrible hour of 3:00 a.m. Eastern time Monday morning, “Big Brother 14” (or at least those who are already signed up for the show’s live feeds) officially opened the door on its house for the upcoming season. Not only that, but we also have a few select words from Julie Chen about the design of the upcoming season as a whole.

Be sure to keep checking back to this article, as we’re going to be updating this live as we check out some of the videos and add our impressions.

The house – Overall, the feel this year has a very specific music vibe to it. There are fake headphones, music all over the walls, and gigantic splashes of color. We love the obtuse-shaped couches, but outside of these and the wall of shoes, we really aren’t seeing too much yet that is distinctive in terms of major twists.

Our favorite room easily is the living room, thanks in part to its massive splashes of white and blue. (Once we have some photos via CBS, we’ll post them in an article!)

The media day game – If you have the live feeds, then you’ll know that this is always a hilarious little game played by some various people in the media inside of the house. The journalists really were excited to take advantage of the game despite them not really playing for much outside of pride — and there was also a major surprise in that Brendon and Rachel came out to take part in the competition.

It shouldn’t really come as much of a shock at all that the media targeted Rachel right away — hey, she’s the reigning champ. At least she had a better sense of humor about it than she would have if it was the real game.

Julie Chen speaks – Julie claims first and foremost that she is not upset about her “Chenbot” nickname, saying that she was hurt at first but now understands it after looking back at some of her old shows. She also said that if she was going to play the game, she would do so with “no expectations.”

The executive producers speakĀ – Allison Grodner says to expect some twists for this coming season that involve giving America some sort of say in the game, though she did not elaborate much more than that. Her primary goals for the show are to consistently put on interesting personalities, while at the same time ensuring that the challenges and the tricks from a production standpoint stay fun.
