‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ review: Teresa Giudice’s progress

It has been a long time since we have been able to say this, but on Sunday night’s new episode of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” we witness something that we really haven’t seen much of so far this season — tangible evidence that Teresa Giudice is trying to move on in some way past her conflict with her brother Joe Gorga.

This week, we saw this aforementioned progress come in the form of therapy, where she sat down and tried to flesh out when the conflict first started — which she claimed was around the time that Melissa Gorga had her first child. Joe was expecting more from Teresa than what she ended up giving at the time, and the tension just built slowly from there thanks to what Joe claims were some nasty comments that were sent off in Melissa’s direction.

It would be far too great of a leap for us to say that suddenly everything is great for these two, and Teresa still has plenty of problems with the rest of the family along with her friend Jacqueline Laurita. However, you have to say that this visit to therapy was a step in the right direction both for her and for this season as a whole. We were starting to get lost in a black cloud of pettiness and bickering, and there had to be some sunshine on the other side. Even though we know this season will still have some stormy skies, there’s a major part of us hoping that Teresa and Joe will find a way to patch things up. If they do, then most of everything around them could eventually fix itself. While she and Melissa may never be the best of friends, they could at least be cordial.

Unfortunately, the end of the episode still made it look like Teresa and Joe are at danger of veering off course again courtesy of the tabloids of all things. Are you really going to let people whose business is causing trouble get to you? The best thing you can do at this point is try to move on — the tools have now been given to these two, and it’s just up to them to see if they want to use them or go back to screaming at each other all over again.
