It would bring in a lot of drama into the show for the Danvers girls. He could be brainwashed, or another possibility is that maybe he isn’t Jeremiah at all! I recall that Cadmus did a lot of things in the comics, including “cloning”. Jeremiah could have actually died when he first met J’ohn after all, and Cadmus used his body as raw material for their cloning experiments.
