Soulja Boy spends $55 million on a private jet

Soulja Boy must think he has quite a lucrative career in front of him — the 21-year old rapper just spent more money on a private jet than many of us thought he even had.

According to TMZ, Soulja (whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way) put down a whopping $35 million on a Gulfstream G5 jet, and it also shelling out an additional $20 million to give the craft all sorts of upgrades when it comes to both seating and entertainment. This move comes just hours before he is set to celebrate becoming “legal” with some of his pals in Miami, and the A-list guests include Sean Kingston (who has recovered from a horrific jet ski accident), rapper Bow Wow, and NBA player Dwight Howard.

Soulja Boy first became famous for his smash song “Crank That” — in which he mentions his own name over a dozen times — and later recorded another modest hit in “Miss Me Thru the Phone.” Considering that he hasn’t had a hit in quite a while, the royalty checks have to be pretty huge in order for him to make this happen.

After this bit of news, there’s only one question left to ask — how much longer before he tries to buy a space shuttle?
