Want to watch a pair of Showtime’s hit comedy series online? So long as you live in America, the premium cable channel is giving you that opportunity now courtesy of a new promotion they are putting on with Facebook.
What is a bit interesting about this promotion, though, is how desperate the network wants you to watch the premiere of Matt LeBlanc’s Golden Globe-winning show “Episodes.” If you head on over to this link, you will be able to check out a slightly-edited version of the premiere. In order to watch the season 8 premiere of “Weeds,” though, you actually have to watch the “Episodes” episode and “unlock” it. It’s certainly an interesting strategy to try and boost a show that they have confidence in, and in some ways it reflects Showtime’s decision to premiere a new season 2 trailer for “Homeland” during the Comic-Con panel for “Dexter” next month.
This is set to be the final season for the Mary-Louise Parker comedy, and with that we hope there is some resolution to the business and personal relationships that have been cultivated much like the show’s “product.” We’ve already seen the first episode, but we are going to hold off on publishing a full review until after it airs on Sunday night. As for “Episodes,” just know that LeBlanc deserves every bit of credit in the world for being so willing to satirize both himself and the rest of the celebrity world for our entertainment.
Do you find this to be a rather intelligent way to keep interest building in their show, or are you more along the lines of annoyed that Showtime is making you watch one show in order to watch other. Then again, it’s hard to ultimately complain when the pay-TV channel is giving away some episodes for free.
