Friday marks the final day of “The X Factor” auditions in Providence, Rhode Island, and for Demi Lovato much of this week has been strictly business as she works with Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, and L.A. Reid to find some of the next big stars in music. Of course, that hasn’t stopped all of the chatter about her personal life, in particular when it comes to rumors that she is dating a former contestant of the British version of the show in One Direction member Niall Horan. The two have exchanged a few posted on Twitter , and it has led to a large contingent of Twitter fans excited about one thing (to reference one of the band’s hit songs) — the prospect of the two stars dating.
However, it is not the case — as evidenced by a new video Demi taped for the show in the middle of the auditions. When asked if she was dating Niall, here is what she had to say in response:
“No, I’m not. He’s really sweet and he’s one of my good friends now, but I’m single and I plan to be for a long time because I need to focus on my career and myself and my well-being before I start to think about a relationship.”
Demi has been linked to a number of stars in the past, with Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and former “That 70’s Show” star Wilmer Valderrama being two of the most noteworthy examples.
In life away from Hollywood it often happens that if you have a male/female friendship that everyone automatically assumes that there is more going on, even when there isn’t. When you’re big stars like Demi and Niall things seem to get blown up even bigger to the point that a few nice words on Twitter turns into some sort of romantic relationship.
Do you still think that Demi and Niall would be a good couple? Season 2 of “The X Factor” will officially premiere on Fox September 12 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. Be sure to check out some of our other coverage!
