Doug Clerget was the noteworthy “Bachelorette” contestant sent home on Monday night’s episode, and thanks to that he found himself as the target of the show’s conference call on Friday. During the interview, he admitted to having real feelings for Emily Maynard, but also said that he was tentative around her thanks to him being a single dad on a show that would appear on national TV. Who wouldn’t be? This is probably the last thing he would want to have his kid watch.
Since there are no fathers left in the competition, it led to Doug being asked a pretty interesting question during the call — who does he think out of the remaining guys are ready for the responsibility of being a dad? His response was rather king when it comes to Sean Lowe, but not so much for a guy he clashed with at times during the season in Chris Bukowski:
“I definitely think that Sean’s 100%. Arie and Jef are right up there. Watching the last episode left me with some questions about Chris for sure. There were some tough moments there. But I definitely think that those three guys are up for it and would put their heart into it.”
At the moment, Chris seems to be in distant fourth when it comes to where he stands with Emily behind his three competitors, and he is going to have to find a way to step things up dramatically during the hometown visits. His comments about Sean hardly come as a surprise — he clearly seems to be the most down-to-earth guy out of the contestants, and also has many of the values that Emily is looking for. Plus, there’s also that passion — just look back at what he and Emily did to that wall in this week’s episode for evidence.
