We’ve already written extensively about our thoughts pertaining to how much we should see Peggy Olson on season 6 of “Mad Men” — and now, Elisabeth Moss is adding some of her own to the mix. For those who were somehow worried that she was going to be phased out now that she is no longer at SCDP, maybe this will serve as some form of consolation.
In a new interview with GQ, the actress admits to being shocked that there was so much panic at the thought of her character being off the show … but in the tradition of creator Matthew Weiner’s philosophy about spoilers, she could not say much more than that:
“Of course, I kind of know what’s going to happen. I didn’t realize that so many people would think that [Peggy was leaving]. Maybe it just comes from me knowing. So now I’m in this position of having to be really secretive about this, which I didn’t anticipate having to do! … You can draw your own conclusions from my movements in the world at some point. If I’m in L.A. shooting Mad Men, then I guess they’re not letting me go.”
As we have said previously, we would be absolutely stunned if the decision was made to not bring Peggy back — though we do not necessarily expect to see her in every episode now, either. The hope here is for her and Don Draper to play an engaging game of corporate chess now that they are at a similar level in their careers, and other people at her old firm will start to see just how much of a driving force she really was in some of their campaigns — even if she was not always given the proper credit for it.
Season 6 of “Mad Men” will start shooting later this year, for those of you ready to draw conclusions are going to have to wait just a while longer. Do you want to see Peggy play a big role in season six and are you hoping that she will go head to head for the top spot in the advertising world?
