Dear writers / showrunners. Please, please, PLEASE don't go the "Voight is her real father" route. That would be ALL sorts of wrong.
1. It would mean Voight hooked up with Bunny (who, as he told Erin, everybody knew back then and that wasn't a compliment...) while married to Camille, the love of his life
2. It would mean Erin finding out her whole life was a lie, creating more angst for her
3. It would keep the focus on yet more Erin backstory / history when we've already had plenty of that both in past seasons and in current episodes.
Here's a fresh and unique idea: Why don't we clear some bandwidth for other characters' backstories? I'd love to see Jay's dad surface, find out what went wrong between them and why they are estranged. What happened to Jay when he came back from deployment? All we know is that he went through stuff he doesn't want to talk about. There are plenty of things they have dropped hints about and never followed up on. So much potential but they keep going back to Erin angst. I know she's the female lead and I love her character but I think they really need to explore some other characters.
