The whole “Sex and the City 3” concept is a rumor that loves to pop up here and there, and we don’t necessarily think it is any secret why that is: It’s an extremely popular show, and the first movie at the very least was beloved.
However, that doesn’t mean that there is another movie being made right now. Sarah Jessica Parker has another project in “Divorce,” the show’s original producers have other projects, and the last we heard, there wasn’t a concrete idea out there. Yet, there was a report from tabloid Radar Online recently suggesting that this could be a thing and that many of the original stars were signed up in order to do it.
There were some issues with this claim right away, from the timing to it to the fact that they originally put in Candace Bushnell — the author of the Carrie Bradshaw stories that inspired the show — as a member of the cast instead of Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha.
Meanwhile, we’ve also got the following denial of the rumor from executive producer Michael Patrick King to Gossip Cop:
“As far as a Sex And The City 3 goes — there’s talk, there’s ideas but, as of right now, there is no script and no deals with any of the ladies … But I do think it would be exciting to do another chapter of this story with those amazing actresses.”
There are some ideas that we think will eventually happen, and then there’s others we’re more cagey on. For example, we do feel like there will eventually be another “Sherlock” season, but we’re a little more unsure of this. The second movie was a bit of a disappointment, and we don’t see the same enthusiasm we once did here. Personally, we’d rather see the cast return for a short 6-8 episode season on HBO, since that is the more natural format for the series and these characters.
