At the end of “Grey’s Anatomy” this past season, we had a chance to see a rather sweet romance between April and Jackson appear almost out of thin air. But is the love going to keep flowing moving forward? Based on what we are hearing, it looks like it is really going to be up in the air — and up to showrunner Shonda Rhimes to make her move.
Sarah Drew still does not have any idea what direction this romance is going to lead, but we should very much expect it to be back on the table at least for the first few weeks of season. Speaking to TVLine in an interview, here is what she had to say on this very subject:
“They have a very deep friendship. But I don’t know if that’s going to evolve into a romance or not. I think it could be really interesting either way.”
While we do not always have clear opinions when it comes to romantic pairings on TV shows, mostly because there is so much that can happen depending on what the showrunner chooses to do, we actually have a pretty staunch opinion on this one. Can’t April and Jackson just be happy? Their scenes together both before and after the boards were some of the sweetest that we have seen, and after watching Lexie die — which felt like the TV equivalent of a puppy running away from home — this show is in desperate need of a dose of happiness. We can still have a show with drama without necessarily making the personal lives of everyone stuffed with tragedy, and seeing how April would handle a committed relationship would be an interesting plot from the standpoint of keeping things fresh.
Are you on the fence about April and Jackson, or are you hoping as much as we are for this to happen?
