If you think back to season 6 of “Dexter,” one of the strangest storylines involved Masuka’s new intern Louis and a certain obsession that he and a female intern had with the Ice Truck Killer — in particular a prosthetic hand that was part of the evidence from the case. Despite being a gifted computer programmer, the guy is obsessed with serial killers — and the fact that he has figured something out potentially about Dexter Morgan makes him a rather interesting force to be reckoned with.
At the moment, he is also one of the show’s biggest loose ends. We don’t know what’s going to happen when it comes to the hand being shipped to Dexter’s apartment, but speaking to TV Guide, executive producer Sara Colleton promises that it will be addressed pretty early on in the season:
“We realized that Louis has a whole darker side and people who become fans can turn into dangerous stalkers in the blink of the eye. That’s what Louis has turned into … [Dexter will] discover the Ice Truck Killer hand — he has no idea it’s in his home — and what the writing on the palm of it means.”
Is Louis going to potentially become a killer of his own? We doubt it, mostly because we don’t see that sort of Miguel Prado-esque energy to his character. However, that is not to say that he is incapable of all sorts of nastiness in his own way, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to become the very thing he is so obsessed with — even if he ends up chickening out of pulling the trigger (both literally and figuratively) in the end. The one thing that we can seemingly guarantee is that Louis is going to be a force to be reckoned with at Miami Metro and in Dexter’s life, regardless of whether or not he actually wants him there.
Do you think Louis being a new sort of character to the “Dexter” world means that exciting things could be on the way next season?
