Matt - help me out - because I'm confused. Let me get this straight. NBC is running The Blacklist's spinoff (Redemption) in The Blacklist's Thursday 10:00 pm slot for eight weeks, The Blacklist is currently pulling in a mere Live + same day 1.1-1.2 rating in that spot - and that's with James Spader at the top of the ticket. How does the spinoff, without James Spader, have any chance of pulling in anything more than that in the way of ratings in the same challenging time slot? NBC has essentially made sure the spinoff is going to be a "one season and done" event. Maybe that's what they intended all along. But it's risky - because if the spinoff can't hold the attention of the original show's audience (which appears to be its target audience) and attract some new viewers during those eight weeks, both shows could crash and burn when NBC brings back the original series in late April.
