While the official filming location for the next season of “Top Chef” has not been announced yet, culinary superfans have probably heard the rumors for some time now that the Bravo series would be taking off to the Pacific Northwest — an area not too far from where the finale setting of “Top Chef: Texas” was in Vancouver — in order to film its new season.
Now, the rumors are about to explode courtesy of some big-time sightings around the city of Seattle. Multiple users on Twitter have claimed to have seen host Padma Lakshmi along with some film crew members around the city, and Seattle Met goes a step further in claiming that the crew has leased a building in the suburb of Redmond, Washington. There are some reports that Portland, Oregon is getting in on the action and making this a new-city season (similar to what we saw from the Texas season with Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio all featured), but that has not been confirmed or substantiated in any way.
If Bravo continues the pattern established from past seasons of the “Top Chef” franchise, then you will see the premiere of this potential Seattle season in the late fall — thus allowing the show to air during the less-busy holiday months before coming to a close early next year. There will surely be some special guests and plenty of creative challenges, but it’s impossible to know any of that just yet. Let’s just hope that producers have somehow managed to figure out that their “twist” from last season — bringing in a huge group of chefs and cutting many of them the first day — was a bad move when it comes to creating an equal cast with characters we can both love and hate.
For now, we’ll just have to sit back and enjoy “Around the World in 80 Plates.”
