In between “Duets” and “The Glass House,” we have a feeling that ABC at the moment may be regretting some of the choices that it made in regards to its summer programming. While the singing show is likely to finish its season, we’re not quite so sure that this “Big Brother” knock-off will.
ABC – Despite “The Bachelorette” drawing a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and close to seven million viewers, “The Glass House” managed to drop over half of the viewers in dropping to just 3.33 million, and nearly half of the demo with its 1.2 rating. This is a drop of 20% from the show’s premiere last week, which is not good for a show that did not have that much in the way of leeway to begin with.
It’s rare that a reality show ends up getting canceled midway through its season, but the rate that this show is going makes it seem possible that it could happen.
NBC – “America’s Got Talent” (3.0) and “American Ninja Warrior” (2.0) were significant in helping the network score themselves some more Monday success, and what really should be noted here is consistency. Even though Howard Stern’s talent competition has lost some of its ratings steam, it is still faring pretty well in comparison to some of the other shows that are airing across the summer.
Fox – The only other network airing new content Monday, “Hell’s Kitchen” (2.3) and “MasterChef” (2.2) were each down versus their past new episodes. Even with this, though, it is not that substantial of a drop, and it is still solid numbers for a network that typically fares about this well during the fall and the spring.
