Carly Rae Jepsen has managed to take the world by storm with just one song in “Call Me Maybe,” and one of the side effects of this has been seeing the video become one of the most-covered YouTube songs of the past decade. Everyone from baseball players to Jimmy Fallon have taken on the track in some shape or form, and now Carly (who actually got her start on the now-defunct Canadian version of “American Idol“) is allowing some of these fans the opportunity to be a part of her upcoming performance at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards on July 22.
So how is this going to work? There are just a few basic instructions to get yourself featured on live TV.
1. Create an original lip-sync video of the song.
2. Upload the song onto YouTube.
3. Head on over to this link to find out how to register your video with the awards show.
In a statement, Carly Rae said the following about getting the chance to have such an interactive performance:
“It’s been a dream of mine to attend the TEEN CHOICE Awards for years … To perform and be nominated is such an honor. I’m looking forward to sharing this amazing night with the fans and friends who got me there!”
Just in case you haven’t seen the nominees yet for the awards show, you can do so by visiting our list. “The Vampire Diaries” is the leading TV show in terms of nominations, and “Twilight” (which proves yet again that teens love moody vampire boys) and “The Hunger Games” are each getting plenty of love in the film category.
