I'd like that too. The team is a very tight knit family-like unit. Some tension there could be interesting, and exerting it from the outside is probably the better choice than creating an intrinsic conflict.
I think the show is at it's best when it comes to character development. Even more so when this can also be achieved in the cases that have to be cracked. It worked pretty well with the last case at the end of this summer. However, that story was told in four consecutive episodes, thus providing time for more complex characters, twists and turns to evolve. It was amazing.

I hope it's interesting. I like on the job tension, especially when it's different from what we typically tend to see with the case of the week.

Would be nice to know something more definitive than just some rumors about a premiere date for the back half sometime in January, right?

Sounds interesting. Let's get some good stories involving the choice of Taylor's successor. The introduction of somebody challenging Sharon and the team would be great. I hope it won't end up being Fritz Howard. Obviously, nobody wants him to be an adversary. And him being Mr. Nice Guy all the time might not be that interesting. There were some attempts to create minor disagreements between him and Sharon in season 3 when his health deteriorated simultaneously. But both these storypoints disappeared miraculously. Unfortunately, I might say. Could have been interesting.

I guess the choice of Taylor's successor will depend on where this show will be headed in the long-run, right? Like: WILL THERE BE A SEASON 6???? That still remains undecided, or at least uncommunicated! And since we're at it: When will the back half of season 5 actually air? Yet another mystery....
