‘The Ides of March’ trailer: Ryan Gosling becomes political prey

Columbia Pictures

Just one day after receiving the first-ever poster for George Clooney’s “The Ides of March,” we now have the trailer for the political thriller set to debut in North America at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

While Clooney may play the Presidential candidate in the film in Governor Mike Morris, the actual story of the film is more based around Ryan Gosling’s character of Stephen Myers — a man who gets caught up with the wrong people and sets in motion of chain of events that puts his and his superior’s respective careers in jeopardy.

Some other members of this A-list cast including Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, and Marissa Tomei — who have all received nominations in the past from the Academy. Clooney has received uneven reviews as a director, with “Good Night and Good Luck” garnering acclaim across the board while “Leatherheads” failed to make a splash both in the box office and with critics.

What do you think of this trailer? Gosling’s newest film (entitled “Crazy, Stupid, Love”) hits theaters on Friday.
