Do you want to see what could very well be the definition of awkward television? If so, just check out the video below from Monday night’s new episode of “The Bachelorette.” We have written time and time again all about the “scandal” (at least in tabloid terms, we hardly think this is a “scandal”) involving Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s past relationship with show producer Cassie Lambert, and now we have a first look at the situation unfolding on the show itself.
What is rather strange about the clip below (via Us Weekly) is that we really don’t have any context for how the subject of Arie’s past relationship with Cassie comes up — instead of finding out how Emily actually learned about this, all we have is an interview that Cassie conducts with Emily about the subject. The producer is intent on reminding Emily that they only dated for a short amount of time years ago, and Arie may not have thought it was a big deal worth bringing up (because it’s not a big deal) — however, this isn’t stopping Emily from being angry about it, and accuses Arie of trying to hide something from her.
While we still don’t think this situation is as bad as this clip is making it out to be, mostly because it’s not like all of the other guys have disclosed full lists of their exes, it could be a major red flag in Emily’s eyes. If Arie is willing to hide something that she thinks is important, is he hiding something more? While we are hesitant to judge him too negatively based on one detail of his past that would not be a big deal at all if Cassie had a different profession (which is reflected in our show rankings), it does at least put him in more jeopardy of going home than he has been in weeks.
What do you think of this interview between Cassie and Emily?
