In this week’s look at Sasha Mallory on “So You Think You Can Dance,” there is yet again plenty to celebrate. For the second straight week, she found herself at the receiving end of heavy praise from the judges — who this time included a certain someone by the name of Lady Gaga. (Sasha has a bit of an indirect connection to Gaga — they have both worked with Adam Lambert in the past in some capacity.)
Sasha performed two numbers over the course of the two-hour broadcast. (You can watch videos by clicking on the links.)
1. Quickstep (with All-Star Pasha) – This was a challenge for Sasha from the get-go, since this is not really her style of dance (or really anywhere close to it). To make it even trickier, the quickstep is not the easiest dance to make exciting. She did, however, rise to the challenge in a sort of wacky rendition of the dance by Jonathan Roberts (of “Dancing with the Stars” fame), who brought a different energy to the routine than what we would expect.
2. Jazz (with Melanie Moore) – Watching this routine was like watching a dragon fly into the sky — you’ve never seen anything like it, and you are completely spellbound for every second. Nigel Lythgoe all but predicted that both Sasha and Melanie would be around until the end after this primal, innovative routine that showcased a completely different side of dance than what we witnessed earlier.
All in all, it’s pretty likely that Sasha will remain safe. What did you think of her performances?
