Haley Reinhart talks new record deal backstage during ‘American Idol’ tour

If you have been following this past season’s contestants on “American Idol,” then you may have already heard the news that has many smiling from ear to ear — Haley Reinhart is finally on board with Interscope Records after weeks of near-constant speculation.

For most of the show tour thus summer (at least prior to the announcement), Haley had been forced to stay mum on the matter when asked by reporters. Now that she can finally speak out, she is attempting to make sure everyone knows her priority moving forward is to create an album that first and foremost appeals to her personality and musical taste:

“I’d rather make something right than to really rush it. I want to make something that I’m really proud of … I’ll probably have to fight my way and stress this is the direction I want to go. I know it’s not the general pop [direction].”

We already have one single from this past season out there in Pia Toscano’s “This Time,” but we seemingly will have a while to wait for Haley. (Let’s just hope that it carries over the sense of fun she brought to “Bennie and the Jets.”)

Is this the sort of comment you were hoping for from Haley? You can checkout the full video interview below, which occurred at the “Idol” tour stop in Raleigh, North Carolina:
