Even though we know that Jessica Lange is one of many actors returning to “American Horror Story” this season, admittedly we still do not know much in the way of details just about who she is set to play.
Speaking to MTV in a new interview, one of the writers for the series in Tim Minear shared a few details that are sure to surprise many people who have seen some of the past work that the Hollywood legend has played over the years:
“She’s not playing this kind of ersatz Tennessee Williams character this time … She’s playing something that’s a little more East Coast, a little more patrician … She’s playing a nun. She’s playing an administrator of a facility. It’s different. In this instance, she’s a bride of Christ.”
On this occasion, we know specifically that this “bride of Christ” is running an institution for the insane set in the 1960s. Many of the show’s actors (including Zachary Quinto and Sarah Paulson) are also playing roles that could not be more different than who they were in the first season — which, from an actor’s point of view, has to be a dream come true. Who wouldn’t love working with the same group of people every day, but get to do different things with them?
Lange has already pulled in multiple awards for her part in the show’s first season, and she is considered to be a heavy favorite to score some more love at the Primetime Emmy Awards when nominations are announced around the middle of next month. What do you think about the idea of her as a nun? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and as always we’re going to have more scoop moving forward from the show leading up to its fall premiere.
