If you are like us, then you are probably still dealing with the devastation that came courtesy of last month’s season finale for “Grey’s Anatomy.” Lexie is no longer among the living, and with that the hope of a happy ever after for her and Eric Dane’s Mark never really came to fruition. We’re already starting to tear up again just thinking about it.
Even though Chyler Leigh still does believe that her character was Mark’s soul mate, she does have some kind words for those out there who are still hurting about the plane crash. Speaking to TV Guide in her first full-length interview since leaving the show, she believes that that we will see Mark move on and find happiness at some point in the future:
“The roller coaster between them was always very dynamic and I think realistic. When it comes to death we never know the date or the hour. There is absolute shock value to that. As far as their relationship, it was in some ways very young. So Rachel and Ross [from Friends]. It’s so hard to put a pin in what went wrong or how it could have gone better. But will Mark go on? Absolutely. He’ll move right along. That’s just what Mark Sloane does. But initially I hope there will be a devastation.”
Of course, the real question that will inevitably come up now is how many people are going to want to see Mark move on after what happened here. He’s probably going to need at least half a season to grieve, and finding the new romantic partner for the character could be one of the greatest challenges that executive producer Shonda Rhimes has ever had. Hopefully, though, Leigh’s comments do mean that Mark is likely to survive long enough to be rescued from the wilderness — something that was left pretty ambiguous during the season finale.
Do you want to see Mark find someone else before this series comes to an end?
