‘American Idol’ notes: Scotty McCreery, Carrie Underwood, and Adam Lambert

Check out Scotty’s new video!

For our Friday morning edition of “American Idol” notes, we are starting things off with something that is always exciting — getting the chance to see a new music video courtesy of one of the stars.

Scotty releases “Water Tower Town” – In the video below, you can check out a rather sweet rendition of the season 10 winner’s brand-new music video. Similar to how “The Trouble with Girls” featured many of his real-life friends, this song is a message of love to his hometown of Garner, North Carolina.

We don’t know if there has ever been a reality singing star as tied to their community as Scotty is — despite having a certified platinum album, he still lives in the city — and is even planning to attend school at the nearby North Carolina State. So everyone in Garner, sit back and enjoy this lovely tribute to you and what you have meant to Scotty’s childhood.

Carrie Underwood covers Coldplay – Typically, we’re a bit stale on Coldplay’s “Fix You” — mostly because we have heard the song on at least a million occasions courtesy of audition packages over the years. (It’s the song that they always play for the contestants with tough pasts who make it through to the next round.)

Then again, Carrie just made this song feel like new all over again. The lyrics and the melody here are magic, and you could totally feel her getting into the song as a part of her much-anticipated performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London. This, by far, has to be in our top ten favorite Coldplay covers ever.

Adam Lambert and will.i.am.

Adam spends time with The Wanted, will.i.am – For those of you who want a reminder, Adam Lambert’s appearance on “Graham Norton” airs Friday night on BBC One — and he also had a chance to meet up with some other big names in music will at the studio.

In addition to posting a photo from T4 Studios with The Wanted on Twitter, Adam also took a shot with will.i.am (who is popular overseas courtesy of “The Voice” UK) — and received a nice compliment from his in the process:

@adamlambert you got some vocal skills…I enjoyed your performance…”

As always, stay tuned for more of the latest “American Idol” news!
