When nothing else works, turn to gimmicks — and this is precisely what “The Glass House” did for its newest live stream on Wednesday afternoon. The good news? It was actually a little bit better than the atrocious spelling bee that we saw a little earlier in the week.
This time around, the name of the game was impressions — namely, having a man dressed sort of like Tom Cruise (and looking about four inches taller) coming out to serve as the ringleader. Although it felt forced, there at least a few moments of joy in here — namely Erika’s impersonation of Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones that the viewers irrationally hated for no good reason.
At the end of the day, though, there are still so many flaws in the “Glass House” that we don’t know how the walls aren’t caving in. How can we really get to know any of these contestants — and want to vote for them — based on some soundbites that they can fake for the cameras? The only endearing moment of the entire live stream came just a few seconds before it actually started, when we saw Jeffrey actually interact in a normal conversation. Now, we find ourselves wanting to vote for him! Surprised? You shouldn’t be.
We’re still not sure whether or not this will be the last “Glass House” stream that we cover, mostly because we’re not sure if we want to torture ourselves further with future hour-long “parties” that have no strategy talk whatsoever. Reality shows need to have an endgame, and it’s not obvious enough at the moment that there is one here.
Are you still tuning in to these streams?
