Over the weekend, “The X Factor” was present in Oakland in order to see the newest crop of potential contestants — and based on some of the audio clips released from the auditions (via Celebuzz), there literally was all sorts of auditions across the board.
What we are liking about this season so far is that everyone seems to be taking the role of “tough judge” at some point or another. While Simon Cowell was hard on a few contestants, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato teamed up to keep out a contestant who Simon and L.A. Reid wanted to put through based on her look. (Doesn’t this sound familiar?)
The one thing we can already see is that there is a much better chemistry here than with the panel last season, and it also feels so much more current and relevant. All four of these people have their own style, and also know what it takes to have hit songs in the modern music landscape. As for who they could really end up mentoring, we would love to see Demi with the younger guys, Britney with the younger girls, L.A. with the over-30s, and then Simon handle the groups. (After all, he’s already made a hit with One Direction.)
It has now been announced that the new season of “The X Factor” is going to premiere on Wednesday, September 12, and the earlier start this season should help to make the live rounds feel a little less cluttered and more entertaining.
What do you think about some of these auditions?
