In reply to David. I don't see how the history states that he died in a pit of snakes which is how he died in the show and they have been very good so far at staying close to what history states and not making up things they won't be able to bring him back as much as I would love him to be back

I believe Hirsch has said he is still in the cast, i think season five already in the can and he was there so taping flashbacks …..i must say he is probably the best actor i have seen on tv, why no emmy nomination is beyond me…..low budget canadian show maybe no love

In reply to Sarah Collins. They will most likely do some vision scenes with him etc Athelstan died remember but he was still in the show a few times after that

In reply to Rick Fiedler. Okay that is good so he will still be part of the show just not a full cast member as he will only appear in flashbacks at least that is better then him not being in the show at all a little bit of Ragnar is better then no Ragnar

In reply to Sarah Collins. I totally agree. No Travis on the show is a huge loss, especially since Ragnar was a character everyone could relate to on some level. I hope his sons are able to carry the show beyond him - I know in their actual history Ivar was way more famous then Ragnar, but we will have to see if the show will be just as good without him. I miss Ragnar already.

I had trouble watching this episode as i truly love Ragnar and Travis Fimmel. I knew he was going to die but i was hoping it would not be true. He has been such a huge part of the show and the show thus far as centered around his life. I cannot wait to see the stories of all his sons and see their lives further develop but it is going to be strange next week not seeing Ragnar in the show. It will be interesting to see if the show can continue on without Travis Fimmel as Ragnar and how long it will continue. I believe the show will continue to be great but the character of Ragnar is going to be a huge loss.
