If there is one show that is worthy of a spot at Comic-Con every year, it is one that features Nathan Fillion as a lead.
With that in mind, we’re rather shocked that TVLine is reporting that “Castle” is not going to have a presence at the San Diego convention this year — at least in the form of a formal panel. It’s still believed that Fillion will turn up at some point, but not necessarily to promote the series. (We’re personally hoping he just runs around as Captain Hammer and sings.)
In other surprising news, the recent winner of the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Comedy Series in “Community” will be present. While this is not necessarily stunning news, there were some (including us) who wondered whether or not the show would be together enough to come in for a panel given what recently happened with Dan Harmon’s dismissal. Another shocker? It looks as though every member of the Greendale 7 — including the controversial Chevy Chase and the perpetually-busy Donald Glover — could be present for the event. Word’s still out on whether or not any of the new staff — including the new showrunning team — would be present to assure fans that their beloved show is not going to change too much. (Maybe Danny Pudi will distract us from the drama by repeating his monologue about Courteney Cox and “Cougar Town.”)
Season 4 of “Community” is scheduled to begin in October — however, there is no announced date just yet for the return of Fillion and Stana Katic to ABC.
What do you think about this announcement — are you more disappointed by “Castle,” or happy about “Community” coming to Comic-Con?
