For fans who felt as though “The Glass House” was a deliberate attempt to capitalize off of “Big Brother” for ratings (and we were one of them after watching the premiere), the following news will be the equivalent of angels coming down and singing “hallelujah.”
ABC – Despite their aggressive marketing push and publicity courtesy of a lawsuit, all “Glass House” mustered was a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic along with just over 4 million viewers. This will surely not be enough to get the show a second season –and it may not even last the summer. The big test will be seeing if the show manages to keep anywhere near the same viewership next week for an episode that will not have any of the built-in hype.
On a different note, “The Bachelorette” scored a decent 2.3 rating that was on part with last week. Hey, at least ABC’s original franchise is doing something.
CBS – The Eye was in repeats, but we are bringing them up mostly because CBS wanted to bury “Glass House” so badly that they scheduled a “Big Bang Theory” repeat up against it at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. Sheldon Cooper not only managed a better demo number, but also close to twice as many viewers.
NBC – For its final audition episode, “America’s Got Talent” put together a 2.8 rating that was a season low for the show. Meanwhile “American Ninja Warrior” also struggled en route to a 2.0.
What did you end up watching Monday night, and do you think “Glass House” will even survive the season?
