‘The View’: Justin Bieber asked about fans, Selena Gomez, and more

Bieber performed two songs on the show.

Justin Bieber hit up the stage on “The View” Tuesday night, and really took up a solid half of the show in between the interview and his performance. Then again, you had to listen closely to hear him talk to Barbara Walters through all of the screams from the audience.

First things first, Bieber gave a pretty familiar response when asked about whether or not he was ever frightened by his fans chasing after him in such gigantic numbers — he knows that they are not out to hurt him in any way, but are simply just excited to see him and watch him perform. (Of course, they can still take it a little far sometimes — see Justin getting chased around Norway in boats as evidence.)

It also still does not matter how long he has supposedly dated Selena Gomez — he’s still just as shy about his relationship as ever. When Walters compared his girlfriend to a woman who was with him on the front cover of his new fragrance “Girlfriend,” Justin was quick to claim that the model looks nothing like her — and he pretty much shut down the subject immediately. You can still tell that talking about his personal life makes him uncomfortable, and since Walters does not want to make the interview miserable (especially when it could state a revolt among Bieber’s fans), she was quick to move on.

Justin performed both his lead single “Boyfriend” off of his album along with an acoustic version of the Michael Jackson-inspired “Die in Your Arms.” Audience members were also given Justin’s fragrance along with his “Believe” CD as gifts for them attending the show.

Stay tuned — we’ll have videos of the performances when they are available.
