While it’s not entirety clear if “Once Upon a Time” is taking us up on some of our casting suggestions, producers are at least beginning the search for some people who could end up becoming some key season 2 characters.
According to a new report from E! News, there are a pair of possible princess-type characters that are being considered for some storylines when we return to the now-magical world of Storybrooke for the show’s second season:
Anastasia – There’s not much known about this character just yet, but it is said that she could be misconstrued as someone who is solely interested in money.
This character name is rather interesting — mostly because there was an “Anastasia” movie created by 20th Century Fox (and not ABC’s parent company Disney) back in 1997 … but there is no apparent connection between this new character and that product.
Magnolia – This character sounds a bit like a classic Disney favorite in Mulan, in particular when it comes to her fighting spirit and battle skills. We know that the show is also looking to expands its fairy-tale reach to some new properties away from the Grimm world, and this could be the perfect way to do so. The one major twist here? These characters supposedly have some ties to magic.
Season 2 of “Once Upon a Time” should start up shooting late next month, and will likely premiere in either September or October depending on how ABC is looking to plan out their schedule. With the serialized nature of this show, they may be better suited to allow for a shorter season time with limited repeats — their only other option is to air the season in halves with an extended hiatus (and this has proved risky to a number of other shows over the years — including “Heroes” and “Lost”).
What do you think about these characters?
