At this point, we’re around the midway point to this season of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” and we are wondering whether or not this is still the same show that we originally fell in love with. While the first two seasons had their share of drama (mostly thanks to Danielle Staub), they also had some humanity mixed in there. Plus, at that point Teresa Giudice was a genuine reality TV superstar — she was entertaining when she wasn’t fighting, and then when she was fighting she was absolutely insane.
Unfortunately, the fun in Teresa fighting is drastically reduced when it is happening pretty much every second that the show is on the air — and about the same things over and over again. Take, for example, one pivotal scene from Sunday night’s episode. After Caroline Manzo and Teresa were already at odds following a cookbook disagreement from what seems like a century ago, things erupted when Caroline (gasp!) brought up who Teresa apparently think is Lord Voldemort in Melissa Gorga. These two have been fighting since well before the show began, and we’re starting to wonder whether or not Melissa is adding anything to the show as long as Teresa is around. Is this really an either / or sort of situation?
Meanwhile, we also saw the same thing transpire with Teresa and Jacqueline Laurita later in the episode, as Jacqueline (finally) started to tire over hearing the same exact thing again and again about Melissa. There has to be an end point to all of this, and without one the friendship at least seems to be over.
As much as we hate to say it, we wonder at this point if this season of the show can really be saved at this point. It’s becoming obvious that Teresa and Melissa are not going to judge, and at this point most of the cast is siding with the latter. We know this show is continuing beyond this season, but it’s starting to need a makeover desperately.
Are you getting tired of seeing the same fight every week?
