Remember when Walter White was an everyday science teacher? He certainly doesn’t look like that man in the new art released for “Breaking Bad” season 5.
The new publicity photo (which was first posted to TVLine) shows Walter and Jesse standing in front of a wall of graffiti, with both of them obviously showing off a certain grittiness that comes with killing one of the biggest drug lords in all of New Mexico. After years of playing patsy to bigger fish, Bryan Cranston is now the big fish — and he is now the one to be feared.
As for Jesse, he is firmly the right-hand man to Walter — and while this is an inevitable place for him to be, it also potentially places a rather large target on his back. If someone cannot get to Walter to kill him, Aaron Paul’s character is logically the next-best choice. (We know that Paul does have a new job lined up at HBO, but it doesn’t look to be any sort of warning sign that he is gone from this show — which is something that tipped many off about the exit of Jon Bernthal from “The Walking Dead.”)
As for the actual story of “Breaking Bad” this season, your guess is as good as ours — outside of knowing that this is going to be quite possibly the darkest season yet, and that the aftermath of Gus’ death is going to especially ring out over the first half of the final sixteen episodes.
