Blake Lively, Selena Gomez not reviving HBO’s ‘City’ franchise

As badly as the media may want to try and paint it as such at the moment, there is no revival of Sarah Jessica Parker’s famous HBO series happening — let alone one featuring some A-list actresses.

Despite some reports floating around on the internet at the moment linking such ladies as Blake Lively, Selena Gonez, and Emma Roberts to the project as younger versions of Carrie Bradshaw and her friends, representatives for the stars are once again saying that this is most definitely not true — or in the case of Gomez, that it is just a “rumor.”

Producers would be taking a major gamble in trying to handle the franchise in such a way to begin with. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis have all become icons when it comes to the brand, and you are posing a very strong chance that few people would want to see these characters played by anyone else. In addition, we already have so much backstory on the four characters, a prequel really just seems unnecessary.

Do you really think we need to see more of Carrie Bradshaw?
