There’s not too much happening in the world of “American Idol” at the moment, so with that in mind we are going to focus on one singular story — but it’s a good one.
If you are a fan of Casey Abrams, then you already know that he has some pretty incredible musical chemistry with Haley Reinhart. The two killed it with “Moanin'” on the show last year, and since that time they have released a holiday duet set to the classic tune “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”
Now, their newest collaboration is officially unveiled — their updated jazz twist on “Hit the Road, Jack.” If you follow Casey’s music, there’s really nothing that will necessarily surprise you here, but it’s also tremendous fun and a great listen. It’s also an example of two musicians getting together and having a great time — and you can take away all sorts of preconceived notions about past contestants on singing shows. These two are the real deal.
This song is the eleventh track on Casey’s upcoming self-titled debut, which is going to be released via Concord on June 26. Be sure to pre-order the full album over at this link, and prepare to make yourselves very happy when it lands in your lap in just over a week. (There’s also some song snippets over at the page — which is great for those of you looking to hear part of the studio versions of “Great Bright Morning” and “Midnight Girl” — two standout tracks from the disc.)
What do you think about this duet? As with all past “American Idol” contestants, we are going to have as much coverage of everything Casey as possible leading up to his album’s debut. Meanwhile, Haley’s “Listen Up!” is already available in stores around the country.
