ABC’s ‘Duets’ mentor Jennifer Nettles expecting first child

Nettles is expecting a child.

Mrs. Carter: The Sugarland family is about to welcome a new addition!

Thanks to J. Rome and John Glosson, Jennifer Nettles has quickly become the favorite mentor to win “Duets” — and if that news wasn’t good enough, it has now been revealed that the country music superstar is now expecting her first child.

Speaking to People Magazine, Nettles’ manager confirms that she and husband Justin Miller (who is an entrepreneur) are excited to become parents, and that she is due to give birth in November. However, she did not specify any further details about the new addition at this time.

When “Duets” does kick off its live shows a little later this season, we now have a feeling that much of the focus is going to be on a certain coach (and a possible baby bump?) just as much as it is some of the contestants. Then again, Nettles has to be used to handling the attention at this point — it’s pretty much what happens when you sell out hundreds of shows on a regular basis.

Despite the presence of Nettles, Robin Thicke, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend, “Duets” has turned out to be a critical and commercial disappointment thanks to a stale formula that does not allow for much creativity in the performances, and also an edit that leaves little chances for us to get to know the partners the music superstars are performing with. Even if the show does not return for a second season, we now have a feeling that Nettles is going to have plenty of ways to occupy her time outside of the music industry.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
